Booktrust
has announced 'Looking for JJ' the winner of the 2004 Booktrust teenage
prize. Last years winner Mark Haddon presented
winning author Anne Cassidy with her trophy and a cheque for £1,500.
Children's TV presenter Michael Underwood one of the five judges admitted
he had read the book three times saying; ' this book had the capacity
to make me physically gasp - I loved the cliffhanger'.
A panel of five judges, including children's TV presenter Michael
Underwood commented on the difficulty of selecting the winning title
pointing out that on this years shortlist "were some of the best
books for teenagers you are going to read this year".
2003 Booktrust shortlisted author Keith Gray, is a fellow judge for
the awards: "The way the Booktrust Teenage Prize is uniquely
organised, with a panel of judges chosen from diverse backgrounds,
means it's bound to highlight varied and interesting choices and the
2004 list was no exception. |
