2004 Whitbread Children's Book Award Winner 6th January 2005

Geraldine McCaughrean has become the first person to win the Whitbread children's fiction award for the third time for 'Not the End of the World'. The previous awards were won in 1987 with 'A Little Lower than Angels' and in 1994 with 'Gold Dust'.

The winning title was selected by a panel of judges which included Kevin Crossley-Holland, Sharon Sperling Vice-Chair of CILIP Youth Libraries Group, presenters Katie Derham and Lizo Mzimba and two CBBC Newsround, 'Presspackers'.

Whitbread Book Awards 2004

The overall winner of the Whitbread Book of the Year will be selected and announced at the Whitbread Book Awards ceremony in central London on Tuesday 25th January 2005.
